This book describes the state of the art in a new branch of science. The basic idea was to start from a general perspective on didactics of mathematics, to identify certain subdisciplines, and to suggest an overall structure or “topology” of the field of research of didactics of mathematics. The volume provides a sample of 30 original contributions from 10 different countries. The book will be of interest to all researchers in the field of didactics of mathematics.
