Groves updates the 1992 textbook he edited with Mel Klegerman, which is out of print in the US. The second edition expands the chapter on the formulation of proteins, and the coverage of proteomics and gene therapy. The attempt to appeal to industrial practitioners has been dropped, and the target readers are now graduate students, though scientists without a pharmaceutical background coming into the biotechnology field might also find much to interest them.
