The third volume in this continuing education publications complements the first two Com-pendiums ”Cements and Cementation Techniques” and ”Esthetic Dentistry” with practice oriented clinical descriptions. The result of the department’s collected clinical experience, our own clinical studies, and the information base compiled from the post-graduate seminar program gained in the generation of a set of treatment planning guidelines. The main theme in the compendium’s first section is the basic principles of implantology, planning, and the prosthodontically oriented placement of fixtures (Top-Down-Treatment-Planning). In addition, the prosthodontic procedures are thoroughly described. At the end of every section a highlighted field indicates important informations to help in recapitulating the most important points and recommendations. The clinical execution of the surgical as well as the prosthodontic treatment is entitled Clinical Cases Step by Step and includes detailed illustrations. Therein typical clinical cases were selected and documented from the initial exam to the final insertion of the restorations. These should help to guide the dentist involved in implant dentistry with regards to planning, decision making and execution. Communication with the dental laboratory can also be enhanced and simplified with the enclosed documentation. The authors hope that the use of the diagnostic forms will serve to help in decision making with regards to planning the optimal type of final reconstruction for a given patient. | |
